About the artists:

José Cháfer Mompó was born in l'Olleria. He began his studies at
the Musical Society oTolis town and continued at the Conservatorio
Profesional of Onteniente, where received the title of Professor of
Trumpet and Honors. His trumpet teachers have included Jose
Maria Ortí, Angel Millan, Pierre Thibaud, Claude Vasse, Thomas
Stevens, Vicente Campos, Mario Guarneri, Otto Sauter, Gabrielle
Cassone and Ole Edvard Antonsen. In 1998, he finished his higher
studies at the Conservatory of Music "Manuel Massotti Littel" de
Murcia with the highest ratings.
Mr. Mompó has been invited to perform with the Symphony
Orchestras of Madrid and Barcelona. He has also worked extensively
with the Symphony Orchestra of Murcia as solo trumpet, recording
live for RNE on numerous occasions.
He has been invited by Spanish Brass Lüür Metalls to perform
concerts in the Canary Islands and Barcelona. He was also invited to
present a recital in the First Cycle of Young Interpreters of the
Spanish Brass Festival in Alzira, as well as to play with the Faculty
Brass Ensemble.
In October 2003, he was a semifinalist in the 5th International
Trumpet Maurice Andre Competition in Paris.
Mr. Mompó has been Professor of Trumpet of the 8 editions of
the International Course of Music "Vila de L'Ollería" (CIMVO),
conducted since 2004 with Eric Aubier, Uwe Koeller, Gabriele
Cassone, Manu Mellaerts, Ruben Marques and Rex Richardson, and
for which he has been Artistic Director since 2005. He has also been
invited to present master classes throughout Europe: in Spain
(Granada, Vitoria, Almeria), Belgium (Brussels), and Switzerland
(Geneva).
In 2007, Mr. Mompó served as a juror for the Trumpet Contest
of Benidorm,with Maurice Andre and other major personalities from
the world of the trumpet. He is a member of Collage Brass Ensemble
and Solo Trumpet with the Symphony Orchestra of the
Teatro Chapí de Villena.
Since 2002, he has served on the Faculty of Music and Performing
Arts; and since 2004 he has taught at the High Conservatory of Music
"Manuel Massotti Littel" to Murcia.



Hailed as “An artiste with an exceptional talent who has made a name
for himself as one of the finest trumpet players in the world today,”

astonishingly versatile trumpeters,” (Style Weekly) Yamaha
Performing Artist Rex Richardson was named the 2008 Brass Herald
Personality of the Year. A veteran of the acclaimed chamber
ensemble Rhythm & Brass, jazz legend Joe Henderson’s Quintet and
Sextet, William Russo’s Chicago Jazz Ensemble, and the Brass Band
of Battle Creek, known as the world’s “Rolls Royce of Brass Bands”
(Brass Band World), he stays busy as a headline artist at international
brass and jazz festivals and as a soloist with orchestras, concert
bands, brass bands and jazz ensembles on five continents.
Since the early 90s he has worked with countless celebrity
artists in multiple genres, developing a unique reputation in the
trumpet world for his combination of singular virtuosity, a highly
personal style, and an emphasis on improvisation in classical as well
as jazz idioms.
A tireless champion of new music, Richardson presented the
premiere performances of concertos by Dana Wilson, Doug Richards
and Peter Meechan on four continents between 2006 and 2010. In the
2010-2011 season he presented the Australian, Brazilian, Swedish,
English, Scottish and U.S. premieres of James Stephenson’s Trumpet
Concerto no. 2, “Rextreme.”
Richardson has taught at VCU since 2002 and served as Artist
in Residence for London’s Trinity College of Music Brass Experience
from 2006-2009. He has been appointed Artist-in-Residence for the
Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England for spring of
2012.
In 2009 he was presented with the VCU School of the Arts
highest honor, the Award of Excellence, and he has just been
awarded the 2011 Theresa Pollack Prize for Excellence in the Arts.
Richmond Magazine, covering the awards, printed “Rex Richardson
stands at the vanguard of jazz, classical and contemporary American
music. As his star has risen internationally, he’s maintained a clear
commitment to education at VCU. He is an extraordinary musician.”

His five solo recordings, including the 2010 release “Magnum
Opus: 21st Century Trumpet Concertos” (featuring the work of VCU
Music Professors Daniel Myssyk, Doug Richards and Dmitri
Shteinberg), are all released on Summit Records. Referring to
“Magnum Opus,” the International Trumpet Guild Journal printed “This
album, without a doubt, puts Rex Richardson among the very best
trumpet soloists in the world today.” (January, 2011)


Russian born pianist Ksenia Leletkina started attending music school
at age six. While a student at the Vladivostok Music College, Ms.
Leletkina gave numerous recitals in her native city, around the region
and in South Korea. She received a prestigious Scholarship of the
Governor of Far East Region of Russia.
As a prizewinner of several competitions including Minnesota
Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Skokie Valley Symphony
Orchestra Concerto Competition and the International Competition for
Young Musicians in Russia, she has appeared as a soloist with the
Pacific Symphony Orchestra; the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra;
and the Grand Valley State University Orchestra. Other performances
include appearance with the chamber orchestra at Grand Rapids
Bach Festival and performance at the AmerKlavier Festival in
Chicago.
Active as a collaborator Ms. Leletkina has performed with such
artists as John Aley, Vince DiMartino, Steven Hendrickson, Tom
Hooten, Dylana Jensen, David Kirk, Jens Lindeman, Rex Richardson,
Ronald Romm, Richard Stoelzel, and many others. Her debut CD “A
Mild Fantasie” with trumpeter Richard Stoelzel was released in
January 2009 on Albany Records.
Ksenia Leletkina holds a Master’s Degree in piano
performance and collaborative piano from Cleveland Institute of Music
where she studied with Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Anita Pontremoli.
Currently Ms. Leletkina is working at her Doctorate Degree at the
Eastman School of Music, studying with Jean Barr.
